We have a new mentor coming on board at VetX International, the wonderful Dr. Gary Marshall!

Dr. Gary Marshall is a graduate of the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Alongside his Thrive mentoring responsibilities, Gary practices full-time at a feline-exclusive practice on Mercer Island, Washington.

His special interest is feline geriatrics, client communication, and the training and mentorship of recruits. Gary loves to connect with veterinary professionals (particularly on his Instagram @it.might.get.weird), many of whom he met through his virtual class covering cat-related content to students and new graduates at the start of the pandemic.

‘My favorite quote is by Svetlana Erada and it goes like this: ‘If it’s both terrifying and amazing, you should definitely pursue it!’ It just seems to capture so well what we’re confronted with every day, doesn’t it? I’d like to help people not be so terrified of the terrifying, and never to stop being amazed by the amazing that is around us all the time’ said Gary.

Gary has previously been the president of the Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and currently serves on the board of directors. He also serves as a representative from Washington State in the House of Delegates for the American Veterinary Medical Association. Back in 2020, Gary was elected to serve on the board of the Women’s Veterinary Leadership Development Initiative and was appointed to serve on the Advisory Group of the AVMA/AAVMC Commission for a Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive Veterinary Profession.

Outside of his impressive veterinary career, Gary enjoys landscape photography and curling.
